E. Byron Parks

Byron Parks, age 86, of Montrose, died October 29, 2014 at home.  He was born March 12, 1928 to Phillip Henry and Pearlie (Crabtree) in El Dorado, Oklahoma.  He spent his childhood and graduated from Reydon High School in Reydon, Oklahoma.  Byron went on to college at the Panhandle A & M in Goodwell, Oklahoma for his Bachelor of Arts Degree then to the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma for his Masters of Arts.  He resided in Denver, Colorado prior to him moving to Montrose, where he has resided for many years and made his home until the time of his death.  Byron was a teacher, principal and an educator in every aspect of his working career.  Byron was a member of American Quarter Horse Association.  He raised and raced quarterhorses.

Survivors include his son, Britt Parks  of Montrose; daughter Marque Iversen of Denver and Lisa Wittenberg of Montrose; one sister Nadia Martin of Reydon, Oklahoma; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  Byron was preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers.

At Byron’s request, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 8, 2014 from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. at 1909 Ironton Street in Montrose.  Arrangements are under the Care of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado.
