Dr. Jaime S. Angeles, 87, passed away in the comforts of his home with his wife and family at his side, on March 12, 2018, in Montrose, Colorado.

Jaime Salen Angeles, MD, MSc, was born on September 5, 1930, in Manila, Philippines, to Jose Angeles and Constancia Salen Angeles. He was raised in San Mateo, Rizal, and graduated in 1957 from the College of Medicine at the University of the Philippines.

After completing an internship and residency in Manila, Jaime immigrated to the United States in 1958. He continued his medical education with additional residencies and fellowships at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), the University of Indiana, the University of Saskatchewan, and McGill University. He received a Master of Science in Experimental Medicine in 1966 from the School of Medicine at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec.

Dr. Angeles eventually settled in Cleveland, Ohio, where he met his wife, Julia (née Miskell), an RNM who immigrated to the United States from England. Jaime and Julia were married on November 18, 1961, in Cleveland, Ohio. From 1966 to 1971, Jaime taught at CWRU’s School of Medicine. As a specialist in Endocrinology and Metabolism, Dr. Angeles ran a private practice in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, for 26 years from 1967 to 1993 before retiring and moving west, first to Albuquerque, New Mexico, then to Montrose.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Julia; daughter Catherine; sons and daughter in laws James, Thomas and Riani, and Kevin and Ellen; grandchildren Siobhán and Noah; and, sister Nelly. Jaime was predeceased by his brother Nestor.

There will be a Memorial Mass on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Montrose, CO. Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory.
