Dorothy passed away December 18, 2015 at the age of 93.  She was born to Vinton and Maude (Martin) Shoesmith in 1922 Bear Grove, Iowa, and grew up in that area.

In 1942 she married Elmer Keith Covault and they had three sons.  During their 50 year marriage, they lived in many states as Keith was a Lineman working on power lines, eventually settling in Montrose.  During the years of raising a family Dorothy enjoyed hunting, fishing, potlucks, sewing and crocheting.  She always loved card games, reading, scrabble, bingo and bowling.  Keith passed away in 1992.

In 1995 Dorothy married Kenton C. Raney of Montrose.  When they weren’t traveling, they could be seen at the Elks Lodge dancing the night away.  KC passed away in 2002.  Dorothy was a member of the Emblem Club and loved being with her dear friend Lavonne (Blondie) Campbell.

Dorothy is preceded in death by husband Keith and KC, and also her sisters Evelyn Shoesmith, Patricia March, Wavah Stetzel and Wilma Rosenberger.

She is survived by brothers Ted (Lila) Shoesmith of Guthrie Center, Iowa, Wayne Shoesmith and Merle Shoesmith.  Also surviving are her three sons, Don(Jeanie) Covault of Montrose, Larry Covault of Florida and Joe Covault of Alaska; Grandchildren, Sherrie (Keith) Hill, Donald K. Covault, Kenneth Covault, Dan (Kristi) Covault, Laurel (Cody) Myers, April Wright, Ted (Sarah) Covault and Brandy Hagan; Great Grandchildren, Lindsey (Derek) Jones, Tyler Hill, Satonya and Dailon Myers, Dustin and Collin Covault, Zoe and Olivia Wright, Ceth Hagan; and Tyrenna, Demi, Jackson and Karter Covault; Great Great Grandchild Clayton Jones.

As per Dorothy’s request, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.  She will be laid to rest in Cedar Cemetery next to her husband Keith Covault.  Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, of Montrose is assisting the family.
