June 20, 1926 ~ July 2, 2018
Doris Jane Dunivan of Ridgway, Colorado passed away Monday July 2nd, 2018 at Valley Manor Care Center in Montrose, Colorado.
Doris is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Jack Dunivan; two sons, Jack Jr. and Kerry Dunivan (wife Karen); and three grandchildren, Erin Dunivan, Kristin Dunivan Muldoon, and Patrick Dunivan.
Born June 20th, 1926 in Oak Park, Illinois, she was the daughter Doug and Ruth Martin and had three brothers, Doug Jr., Warren and Glen. She married on July 5, 1947 and lived in Illinois and Indiana before moving to Montrose, Colorado in 2004.
Doris was always the life of every party and loved by all. Her never ending laughter was contagious and could be heard all day. She considered herself a civil servant as she drove a school bus for over 40 years in Illinois and Indiana. She took three generations of children to school every day safely, never having an accident in her driving career. Her students loved her and showed it with cards and presents on birthdays, Christmas and Valentine’s Day.
She was very proud of the service she provided and received numerous awards for her outstanding commitment.
The Dunivan family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at both of the Volunteers of America facilities in Montrose; The Homestead and Valley Manor Care Center, for the caring and loving attention they provided Doris in the last years of her life.
Per Doris’ request cremation has taken place and there will not be any services. Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.crippinfuneralhome.com
