Montrose resident Dora Padilla died on May 25, 2019 at Montrose Memorial Hospital. She was 82 years old. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday June 8, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel.

Dora Elizabeth Whitson was born Sept. 15, 1936 in Telluride, CO to Charles and Evelyn (Wood) Whitson. She grew up in Telluride and graduated from Telluride High School.

She married Ben LeRoy Padilla on May 30, 1954, in Telluride. They remained in Telluride until 1979, moving to Fall Creek. They made Montrose their home in 2003. Dora retired as the office manager at San Miguel Power. “Maga” enjoyed sunflowers and Halloween, always handing out the biggest candy bars she could find. Her hobbies were cleaning her home and decorating it.

Dora had some favorite quotes, including “I like to see a man proud of the place in which he lives. I like to see a man live so that his place will be proud of him.”  Lincoln. Cleanliness is next to Godliness. God helps those who help themselves.  Never ask anything of anyone that I would not ask of myself.

Mrs. Padilla is survived by her husband Ben, her sons; Terry and Megan and their children Jarod, Travis, Connor, and Dylan.  Jerry and Michelle and their children, Jenna, Kelly, Christopher, MacKinzie, and Madison.  Anthony and Tammi and their children, Cody, and Zach. Her daughters; Roxie and Rocky Smith and their children, Jessica, Matthew, and Tyler. Rebecca and Chelsey Padilla.

She was preceded in death by her parents Evelyn and Charles Whitson.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Crippin Funeral Home.
