Dora Ann Willis (Jones)

Dora Ann Willis, 92, a long time Montrose resident passed away at Brookdale Sunrise Creek Assisted Living on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. Dora was born September 25, 1924 in Mountainair, New Mexico to Carl Ulyss Jones and Emma Velma (Harrington) Jones who preceded her in death.
Dora was married to Ross Warren Willis on March4, 1949. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage until his death in May 2013. Dora and Ross enjoyed their lives on the original Willis homestead on Chipeta Road until failing health forced them to move to Sunrise Creek Assisted Living. She enjoyed her flower gardens, especially her geraniums and the views of the San Juans. Prior to her moving to Colorado she was a nurse and often reminisced about her nursing years. Dora was a faithful member of the Crossroads Victory Church.
She is survived by her two daughters, Mollie Cordero (Joe) of Montrose and Judi Willis of Durango, CO. In addition are three grandsons, Mike Tofflemoyer, Ogden, UT; Mark Tofflemoyer, Olathe, CO and Matthew Tofflemoyer (Christy) and two great-grandsons Cameron and Ty of Fort Wayne, IN, She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Mancuso of Grand Junction, CO, and brothers James Nolan Jones of TX and David (Michele) Jones of Medford, OR as well as many nieces and nephews. Also, preceding her in death were six brothers and sisters, Lillian Edge, Norman Jones, LaVerne Naylor, Louise Habermehl, Eugene Jones and Jonell Wagner.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to HopeWest Hospice, in memory of Dora Willis, 725 South 4th Street, Montrose, Co. 81401. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Crossroads Victory Worship Center in Montrose. Interment will follow the service at Valley Lawn Cemetery south of Montrose. Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, CO.
