Donald Chris Nelson, age 78, passed away June 10, 2016 at Valley Manor Care Center in Montrose, Colorado. Donald was born September 8, 1937 to Edwin and Maggie May Nelson in Tucson, Arizona. Donald grew up in Tucson and Muleshoe, Texas. He graduated from University of Arizona with an engineering degree. On August 25, 1973 Donald married the love of his life Maria Stella (Reeder) Bustamante in Crested Butte, Colorado. Donald traveled most of the United States and retired in Montrose, Colorado where he resided until his death. Donald was a member of Montrose Christian Church. He served his country in the United States Navy as a Seabee. Donald was a 50 year Asbestos Union Member (Number 73). Donald loved to fish, read, and spend time at the Senior Pavilion playing pool, but most of all spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Donald is survived by his wife Stella Nelson of Montrose, CO; his son Kirk (Lokelani) Reeder of Denver, CO; his daughter Debbie (Jim) Stewart of Montrose, CO; his brother James Stanley Nelson of Phoenix, Arizona; three grandchildren Casey Stewart of Montrose, CO, Valorie (Brandon) Roberts of Montrose, CO, Brandy (Rob) Felder of Firestone, CO; six great grandchildren; one sister-in-law Gene Nelson of Tucson, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Maggie May Nelson, his brother Edwin Nelson, his sister Bobbie Nelson, and beloved infant daughter Erikka Katherine Nelson.

There will be a Memorial service for Donald on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a burial to follow at the Delta Municipal Cemetery on 3^rd Street, in Delta Colorado. Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory.
