Desarae Leeann Jones

March 23, 1984 — December 24, 2016

Desarae LeeAnn Jones (our flower in a patch of weeds), age 32, of Montrose, CO passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Montrose Memorial Hospital surrounded by those that loved her dearly; after a long-fought, courageous battle with breast cancer. She was the beloved wife of ten years to Jeremy Jones and mother to Lincoln Jones (7) and Grant Jones (5).

Desarae was born in Montrose on March 23, 1984, spent some of her childhood in California, and Texas, with a majority of her time residing in Montrose. She attended Montrose High School but ultimately graduated from Childress High School in Childress, Texas in 2002. She then came back and finished her Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in secondary mathematics from Mesa State College. Only could Desarae graduate college with honors and get married to her childhood sweetheart in the very same weekend! Yes, she’s awesome like that. She began working at Montrose High School and quickly became an integral part of the team. Desarae taught there for ten years and it was there that she inspired the lives of so many students and colleagues.

Along with her husband and sons, she leaves behind a large family with abundant love for her including her mother, Martha Ann (Morgan) Catlin; brother Dusty Moots and sister in law Airin; Brother Gary Bryson; Brother Timothy Bryson; Sister Erin Moots; Dad Dean Moots; Grandfather Kermit Moots; and Grandmother Rosetta Moots. She is also survived by her Aunt and Uncle Sheryl and John Rhodes; Uncle Larry Herbig; Aunt Terry; Grandmother Linda Hatley; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

Desarae was as honest and pure as they come; she married the first boy she ever kissed. She spoke the most thoughtful and meaningful words to each of us always telling us exactly what we needed to hear. She expected the best out of everyone and held people to the highest standard. She could teach you the toughest Calculus algorithm, but could whoop ya in an arm wrestling match. She was always concerned for everyone else’s well-being, even to her last breath. Our Desi inspired and changed the lives of others. May we always remember her influence and spread love like she did. We are left asking ourselves, what would Desi do?

Her greatest and biggest accomplishment was undoubtedly becoming a mother to Lincoln and Grant. She lived every day for her boys. She would always choose spending time with her sons, husband and mother over anything else. She was an amazing and entertaining mother. Not only was she an incredible mother, Desi was completely devoted to her husband Jeremy. She will live on through her boys. They already possess all of the qualities and capabilities to be as brilliant, compassionate, happy, loving, and successful as she was and will always be.

We love you, we miss you, we will see you again.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Desi, on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Community Church, with a private family burial to follow. In Lieu of flowers please make donations to the Desarae Jones Donation Account at Wells Fargo for a collage fund she has set up for her boys. Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home and Grand View Cemetery. (970)249-2121
