Dennis (Denny) Edward Huonder, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024, in Longmont, Colorado, at the age of 83. Born on July 12, 1941, in Medford, Oregon, Dennis lived a life marked by dedication to his family and service to his country.
A proud veteran, Dennis served in the United States Navy after graduating high school. Upon completion of his military service, he was a USPS mailman for a time, before attending electrical trade school. Upon graduation and completion of his internship, he held multiple jobs in the industry. In 1977 he and his beloved wife Rose, moved their family to Montrose for a better quality of life for their family, and a slower pace of life near the mountains. He worked for distant and local companies, ranging from power plants to sawmills. After retirement, he enjoyed working many odd jobs to stay busy. His work ethic and dedication were admired by colleagues and friends alike.
Dennis was a man of integrity and warmth, known for his kindness and generosity. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling & camping with Rose, and sharing stories of his naval adventures with everyone. His presence brought joy and comfort to those around him, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
Dennis spent 47 years in Montrose, Colorado, where he and Rose built a life filled with love, family and community. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosetta (Rose) (Nyman), his parents, Art and Helen (Renstrom) Huonder, sisters, Judy and Joan & granddaughter Madeline. His legacy is carried on by his three children, Russell Huonder, Edward (Mary Bell) Huonder, Mary (Jeff) Jones, six grandchildren Zachary (Pamela), Andrew, Connor, Kathryn, Adam and Abigail. All who will remember him as a devoted and loving father & grandfather.
His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends during a celebration of life filled with love, service and dedication. At Dennis’ request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at Crippin Funeral Home, 802 E. Main St., Montrose, CO 81401. Interment will follow the service at Grand View Cemetery, west of Montrose.
