Delbert D. Carkhuff, 85, died Friday morning, June 28. Delbert was born October 18, 1933, in Montrose, Colorado, to Wilber Newton Carkhuff and Della Tagg Carkhuff. Delbert served in the National Guard before marrying Anna Dorene May 6, 1962 raising his family in Tonopah, Nevada, returning to Montrose to build his dream home for a comfortable retirement. He will be remembered for his fine woodworking skills, quick wit, love of coffee & donuts and rumbling around town in his teal ’58 GMC. Delbert is survived by his wife, Dorene, 4 children Keith, Kathy, Betsy, Paul, son in law Mark Ryszkowski, grandson Caleb, and older brother James. Delbert was preceded in death by daughter Cindy. A public memorial service will be held Monday, July 8, at 10 AM, at the Cedar Creek Cemetery, 2241 Miami Road Montrose, Colorado.
