David Robert Pavlich was born April 22, 1925 in Brilliant, New Mexico to Charles and Matilda (Starkovich) Pavlich. David graduated from St. Patrick’s Academy in Raton, New Mexico where he was class Valedictorian. After graduating High School he enlisted into the U.S. Army Air Forces in August 1943 and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in February of 1946. He served in the Continental United States as a B-24 and B-29 Bomber Gunnery Instructor. On February 10, 1951 in Trinidad, Colorado David married the love of his life Emilia “Millie” Gertrude Ferraro. They celebrated 64 years of marriage together. David was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1188 in Montrose. He was active in the Lion’s Club International and the Montrose Chamber of Commerce for many years. David and Millie lived in several places throughout New Mexico, Kansas, and Colorado.

David enjoyed fishing all his life, and especially fly fishing in his earlier years; then in retirement, took up gardening; growing and cultivating all varieties of tomatoes. He loved following all sports, and was a long-time Denver Bronco Fan.

David is survived by his wife Millie Pavlich of Montrose, CO; five sons David (Patricia) Pavlich of Bartlesville, OK; Kenneth (Carole Fahey) Pavlich of Amelia Island, FL; Gregory (Ann Mygatt) Pavlich of Boulder, CO; Steven (Kathryn) Pavlich of Irving, TX; Michael (Ellen) Pavlich of The Woodlands, TX;one daughter Jane (Brian Schiel) Pavlich of Ann Arbor, MI; five siblings Agnes (Pavlich) Maga of Espanola, NM; Phyllis Violet Pavlich of Raton, NM; Mary Louise Pavlich of Raton, NM; Kathryn Charlene (Pavlich) Roybal of Albuquerque, NM; Charles James and Patricia Elizabeth Pavlich of Bay City, TX; one sister-in-law Betty Pavlich of Houston, TX. He also leaves behind grandchildren John (Latifa); Paul (Nicole); Matthew; Marie (Mark); Claire; Theodore; Nina (Michael); Christopher; Anthony; Angelina; Bernadette; Dominic; Cecilia; Cyprian; Athanasius; and Daniel; one great grandson Mark Joseph Pavlich; and several other family members that are too numerous to enumerate.

David is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Matilda Pavlich; siblings Mary, Charles, Joseph, and Josephine Pavlich; brothers-in-law Joseph Maga, Ben Frank Roybal; and grandson Mark Steven Pavlich.

There will be a Vigil and Rosary for David Thursday, October 15 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. There will be a Memorial Mass Friday, October 16, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with inurnment at Cedar Creek Cemetery in Montrose, CO. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Pope John Paul ll Academy; 67051 Sunnyside Road; Montrose, CO 81401; or Sharing Ministries Food Bank; 121 North Rio Grande Ave; Montrose, CO 81401. Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory.
