Dave Platt

September 29, 1959 — August 28, 2021

Dave Platt of Norwood, Colorado passed away in his home on the evening of August 28, 2021. David “Dave” Russell Platt was born on September 29, 1959 in Watertown, South Dakota to Harold and Nola (Akkerman) Platt. Dave is the youngest of 5 kids. At a young age, the family moved to White, South Dakota and Dave went to Deubrook Area School. As a young boy, he loved to play baseball with his older siblings and any of the neighborhood kids that were willing. If he wasn’t playing baseball, he enjoyed playing basketball in the alley with his friends. As a teenager, he worked odd jobs for area farmers and developed a love of the outdoors, especially riding motorcycles and hunting. Dave loved his work as a ranch manager and hunting guide for Miramonte Ranch, LLC, until his illness forced him to retire.

In November of 1996, he met his wife, Lisa Platt, on a Friday night in the Lone Cone. They married in May of 1997 in Norwood, Colorado. Dave had a penchant for the throttle, a passion for muscle cars and skills to rebuild them as needed. He shared all of these attributes with his son Jeremy and, most recently, with his granddaughter Jaidyn as he gladly helped work on her first truck. A proud grandpa, indeed. He shared a passion for baseball with his grandson Joshua. He tried to give him tips on how to perfect his curveball. They also enjoyed fishing together, as long as there weren’t snakes around.

Dave is preceded in death by his mother Nola (Akkerman) Platt, his oldest daughter Liza Platt, and his father Harold Platt.

Dave is survived by his wife Lisa Platt, his son Jeremy Platt (wife Brandi, granddaughter Jaidyn, grandson Joshua), his daughter Shannon Cordova (husband Kevin, granddaughters Liza and Hannah, grandsons Dylan and Thomas, great grandson Vance), stepson Austin Johnson, brothers Larry Platt, Jim Platt, Rick Platt and sister Linda (Platt) Mitchell.
