Daniel Paul Fossey
September 14, 1954 ~ June 16, 2014
Daniel was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the youngest of six children to Douglas and Virginia Fossey. The family moved to Moab, Utah when Dan was a young child. Dan was the assistant superintendant of the road and bridge department for Ouray County.
Dan had three children, Jason, Elizabeth, and Sara by a previous marriage. Dan was married to Peggy Foster in 1994 and helped raise her two boys, Isaac and Tyrone Coleman.
Dan and Peggy moved to Ouray, Colorado in 1995 where Dan was the Public Works Director for the city for seventeen years before going to work at Ouray County. Ouray; its people, proximity to the mountains, and community was the light of his life and the recipient of his endless energy and love. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, brother John, sister Elaine, daughter Elizabeth, son Jason, and brother-in-law Dennis Foster.
Dan is survived by his wife, Peggy, daughter Sara (David Calvo) of Houston, Texas; sons Isaac (Erin) Coleman of Denver, Tyrone Coleman of Grand Junction; grandchildren Jason, Charlie and Anna Fossey of Greenriver, Utah, Violet, Thayer, and Orrin Coleman all of Grand Junction. He is also survived b y his brother Frank (Roxy) Fossey of Moab, Utah and sister Lorraine (Ron) Turner of Edmond, Oklahoma, and sister-in-law Patti Fossey of Sandy, Utah as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Ridgway State Park, Pa-Co-Chu-Puk Campground, North of Ridgway, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hearing Loss Association of America at hearingloss.org. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado.
