Dana DeJulio Hines

February 16, 1957 ~ June 14, 2015

Dana DeJulio Hines of Colorado Springs passed away peacefully at home on June 14, 2015.  Dana was born February 16, 1957 in Montrose, Colorado to Ed and Karen DeJulio.  After graduating from Montrose High School in 1975, Dana attended Blair Business College in Colorado Springs…then proceeded to take a job at Otero Savings and Loan.  This was the start of a long and successful career in the banking and mortgage loan business.  Shortly after college, she met Ken Hines, the love of her life.  They were married November 29th, 1980.  Ken and Dana were blessed with three children, Katie, Adam and Jenna.

Dana most recently worked as a Mortgage Loan Officer at Peoples Bank in Colorado Springs.  Dana’s true passion was quilting.  She loved making quilts for her family and friends.  She also loved to cook, and with Ken, enjoyed preparing for many large gatherings at their home.  She was jokingly referred to as “The Hostess with the Mostest”.  Dana especially enjoyed traveling with family to such destinations as Alaska, California, Mexico, the Caribbean, Italy and Sweden.

Dana was diagnosed with Brain Cancer in July 2014, and fought a long courageous battle.  She won her fight against cancer by going home to her Heavenly Father.  Dana left her family and friends a legacy full of love, strength and charity.  She was actively involved for many years in fund-raising for “Care and Share”, a Colorado Springs charity.

Survivors include her devoted husband Ken Hines, her parents Ed and Karen DeJulio and father-in-law Wayne Hines, sister Lori DeJulio Parlet (Craig), brother Ken DeJulio (Michelle), her children daughter Katie Diaz (Joaquin) and grandchildren Cooper and Layla Diaz, son Adam Hines, daughter Jenna Hines and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and CNA’s of New Century Hospice in Colorado Springs, as well as the staff of Freedom Home, for taking such gentle and thorough care of Dana.

Services will be held on Friday, July 3, at 11:00a.m. at the United Methodist Church, 19 South Park Ave in Montrose followed by a luncheon and reception at the church.  A 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service at Cedar Cemetery for family and friends will precede the 11:00 a.m. service at the Methodist Church.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to HopeWest Hospice, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, Co. 81402 or New Century Hospice, 1524 N. Hancock Ave. Colorado  Springs, Co. 80903.  Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, in Montrose is assisting the family.
