Cynthia Ann Nelson, of Montrose, Colorado passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015 at her home, at the age of 76.  Cynthia was born February 16, 1938 in Sterling, Colorado.  Her parents, Horace and Esther (Patterson) Coats brought the family to Montrose in 1948, which included three brothers, John N. Coats, James R. Coats and David P. Coats.  Cynthia attended grade school at Menoken and graduated from Montrose High school in 1955.  She worked as an Executive Secretary for the Bureau of Reclamation and Colorado Ute Electric Company, as well as a Medical Transcriber for the Delta Memorial Hospital.

Cynthia was a fierce patriot and dearly loved God, family and hercountry.  She really enjoyed animals and the farm life.  She is greatly missed by her family and friends.

Cynthia is survived by her brothers, James and David Coats; her sons Brian Baranowski and wife, Tonya, Michael D. Nelson and wife Tammy of Olathe; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents her husband of 46 years, Ted J. Nelson and her older brother, John.

A Memorial Service in celebration of Cynthia’s life will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Victory Baptist Church on North Townsend in Montrose.  The service will conclude at the church with a private family inurnment at Grand View Cemetery, West of Montrose.  Crippin Funeral Home, Montrose, Colorado is assisting the family.
