Corinne “Connie” Olive Schaeffer

Corrinne ‘ Connie’ Olive Schaeffer, 87, of Montrose, Colorado, passed away March 29, 2015. Connie was born December 3, 1927 to Elbert Kepler and Katherine Bartholf Jones in Hammond, Indiana. She graduated from Evanston High School in Evanston, Illinois. She then attended North Western University in Evanston, Illinois, receiving her degree in psychology. On July 1, 1950, Connie married Wendell ‘Bob’ Robert Schaeffer in Evanston, Illinois. She was a loving wife and mother, and while raising her family Connie was involved in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, American Association of University Women, Republic Women, and a founding member of Montrose Amateur Radio Club. Prior to retirement, Connie and Bob spent two years in Ogden, UT., and sailing on the East Coast for another two years, then took three years traveling in an RV. They returned to Montrose in 1980 where Connie was involved in the Embroiderer’s Guild of America, as well as a founding member of both Montrose Model Railroad Club and the Ridgway Railroad Museum, She enjoyed knitting, needlework, sailing, and jeeping.
Connie is survived by her husband, Bob Schaeffer of Montrose, CO; her son Karl (Janet) Schaeffer of Ridgway, CO; her daughter, Kathy (Steve) Parish of Montrose, CO; two brothers, Norman Jones of Lexington, VA; Alan Jones of Paradise, CA; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Connie is preceded in death by her parents Elbert and Katherine Jones. Memorial Contributions may be made to HopeWest Hospice at P.O.
