Cleo H. Elliott, age 97, of Montrose, CO., passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 18, 2018 in Montrose. He was born March 30, 1920 in Canton, TX. to Lee and Lura (Pickering) Elliott. Cleo served proudly in the United States Marine Corp. during WWII, seeing action in Iwo Jima, China and Guam.
He was married to Gladys Davis Elliott and worked in Dallas, TX as an Auto Mechanic for over 40 years. Cleo moved to Montrose in 2004 to be closer to his family. He became an active member of Montrose V.F.W. Post #784 for the last several years.
Cleo was preceded in death by Gladys, his wife of 37 years and his grandson, CPL Christopher Sitton. He is survived by his daughter, Judy Sitton and her husband Steve of Montrose, CO; granddaughter Laura Sitton and numerous nieces and nephews in Texas.
A celebration of life will be held in Texas in the spring. Memorial donations in Cleo’s name can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at support.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate.
