Claude Edward Rediger

July 6, 1929 — December 26, 2015

After a life of service to God, Claude Edward Rediger went peacefully into the arms of his Heavenly Father on December 26, 2015 at the age of 86.

Claude was born July 6, 1929 in Hollywood, California, the fourth child and first son of Katherine Eigsti and John Henry Rediger.

Claude played trumpet in the Army for four years.  He then attended Southern California Bible College, where he met his wife, Wilma Rendell.  After graduating, Claude served as the music and youth pastor at San Bernardino Assemblies of God church.  He then answered a call to missions and served for several years in Samoa, the Philippines and Indonesia.

Claude then joined Youth With a Mission, where he worked as a missionary for over 50 years, pioneering this mission in Canberra, Australia, and South East Asia.

A Godly man with a servant heart, full of laughter, gentleness, and worship, Claude was a spiritual father to thousands as he trained missionaries to spread the Gospel and God’s love throughout the world.  He often encouraged others to joyfully obey the Lord.  His love of the Lord and others, his passion for family, and his loving smile personified for many the Father-heart of God.

Claude is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Wilma Rediger, and his loving sons and daughters: Martin (Aileen) Rediger of Colorado Springs, CO; Lynn (Darrell) Furgason of Chilliwack, Canada; Lance (Lisa) Rediger of Montrose, CO; John (Tammy) Rediger of Port Angeles, WA; Laura (Stephen) Larson of Lake Forest, CA; and Paul (Mary) Rediger of Olympia, WA.  Claude also leaves behind a legacy of 26 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Claude’s life will take place in Montrose, CO, on December 31, 2015 at 2 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to University of the Nations (YWAM), 75-5851 Kuakini Hwy, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740.
