Clarissa Lorene Tiffee was born Oct 10, 1920, in Detroit Texas to Charles Catlet and Cleveland
White Tiffee. She was the youngest of five children. At a very young age, the family moved to Rosten, Texas and then to Soper, Oklahoma. Clarissa attended grade school and high school at Soper, graduating with the class of 1939.
When World War II began, Clarissa entered nurses training in Paris, Texas. She took State board at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas, Texas. She met George Chambers, who was stationed at Camp Makey, Texas, with the Ninety-Second Signal Battalion Company “B”. They were married on Oct 2, 1943. They were married 56 years when George passed away on Dec 2, 1999. They had five children. Two daughters: Mary Jane and Margaret Ann. Three sons: the twins, John and Joe. And Don.
Clarissa had the pleasure of working in the hospitals at Wesley in Wichita, Kansas, Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, Nebraska, Memorial Hospital in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Craig Memorial and Valley View Nursing Home in Craig, Colorado. The family moved to Montrose in June 1968. Clarissa worked at Montrose Memorial and San Juan Living Center. Retired from nursing after 46 years in Oct 1991.
Clarissa requested to be cremated with her ashes scattered on her property. A family gathering to do this will be next month. No formal services will be held.
