Clarence Alvin Blunt, age 89, passed away on September 21, 2016 in the comforts of his home, with his wife at his side. Clarence was born on September 8, 1927 in West Port Township, Iowa to Chester and Valborg (Nelson) Blunt. Clarence spent his childhood in Milford, Iowa, graduated from Terril Community School in
Terril, Iowa; and Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. On November 18, 1948 in Castle Rock, Colorado, Clarence married the love of his life, Lola Cotter. Clarence served his country in the Merchant Marines from 1945 to 1946. Clarence enjoyed traveling, hunting, camping, fishing, snowmobiling, metal work, reading, writing, poetry, country western music, history about the old west, and watching football.
Clarence is survived by his loving wife, Lola Blunt of Montrose, CO; his sons Phil (Judy) Blunt of Montrose, CO, Kelly (Debra) Blunt of Oskaloosa, IA; his daughters Janice (Kendall) Kelsey of Montrose, CO, Linda ( Rob) Kimble of Canon City, CO; his sisters Alice Hood of Iola, KS, Margaret Winters of Marshtown, IA; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren. Clarence is preceded in death by his parents Chester and Valborg Blunt, and his brother Gordon. Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory.
