Christine A. Skellett

November 2, 1948 — February 11, 2013

Christine was born in Montrose but was a child of the world as she went to school in Germany, Japan, as well as the United States. Christine married in 1967 and had two beautiful daughters as a result of that marriage. In 1992 she married her “knight in shining armor” James Skellett and together they continued to travel the world and live life to the fullest. Christine loved life, and she especially loved her family and especially her grandchildren, Cameron, Rhiannon, Mitchell, Jacob and Corinne. An employee of Montrose County Health and Human Services Christine loved her job and all of the people she came in contact with in her daily activities. A devout Christian, Christine was a member of the Ladies Wednesday evening bible study at First Presbyterian Church and loved all of her bible study mates.

Christine attended Colorado State University graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree and was a proud member of the Phi Betta Kappa Society.

Christine is survived by her children, Marianne Cross ( Roger) of Montrose, Cheryl Stiles (Allen) of Ninety Six, South Carolina, as well as her grandchildren, Cameron and Rhiannon Cross, Mitchell, Jacob and Corrine Stiles and her beloved husband James Skellett. She is also survived by her Aunt Anna Jane (Benson)  Dill of Montrose and her sisters Jolea Anderson of Fort Collins, Co, Betsy Benson, Montrose ,Co and her brothers James Benson of Merrill Iowa & Charles Benson of Montrose, Co. She is also survived by a niece, Jasmine D’Amico and her children Miah and Grae.

At Christine’s request she was cremated and the family will hold a private memorial at a later date. Christine respectfully requested that in lieu of flowers you make a contribution in her name to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado and or the San Juan Cancer Center. There will be a celebration of Christine’s life Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel with a reception following at her home at 5:30 PM at 1121 S. 11th St.  for her family & friends.

Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co.
