Cheryl Lynn Holden
February 8, 1949 ~ June 10, 2017
Cheryl Lynn Holden, 68, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017. She was born February 8, 1949, in Ft. Collins CO to the late Terrell and Raenell Quick. Cheryl was a most amazing woman with a life-long interest in family, animals, the outdoors, and political causes. Well read and well educated, she had admirable insight and appreciation for life. Cheryl was private and generous. She was selfless and kind. Her undergraduate and graduate degrees served her well as she worked as a social worker, a manager in banking human resources, and a criminal probation officer. Her ability to reach people and command respect was a remarkable strength. As a youth, she was an accomplished competitive swimmer and skier. She was a member of hiking, cross country skiing and kayaking groups throughout her life. Her faith was very important, and she was devoted to her community at the Center for Spiritual Living.
Perhaps Cheryl’s strongest attribute was as a loving mother to her children Shane Carver and Jenna Rogers son-in-law Danny, and grandchildren Jaxon, Makenze, and Brooklyn Carver, and Parker and Carson Rogers. She traveled often to see them and was her happiest when they could be together. She was loyal, supportive and the best cheerleader ever for their many accomplishments. Cheryl and her sister Janelle were exceptionally close and missed their younger brother Johnny throughout their lives. Many family members including nieces Quanah Scoggins and family Michael, Margaux and Geneva, and Faulk Simon and daughter Evangeline were loved and another focus of her life. Her family lovingly included a special Aunt Carol, cousins Dr. Ann Gill and Tom and Lori Gill and family, and her children’s fathers. She had many close and loyal friends.
There are no words for how much Cheryl will be missed. Her feisty spirit and positive outlook are attributes from which we all benefitted. There was no one like her. Ever.
The Celebration of Life for Cheryl will be on Saturday, June 17th at 10:00 a.m. at the Center for Spiritual Living. The address is 658 Howard Street, Delta CO 81416. Donations may be made to the Center for Spiritual Living, address above or Montrose Animal Shelter, 3383 N. Townsend Ave, Montrose CO 81401 in memory of Cheryl Holden.
