Charlie Alben Sebesta

Charlie A. Sebesta, 78, passed away May 10, 2015 at San Juan Living Center in Montrose. He was born March 22, 1937, to Thomas and Velina Sebesta in Brenham, Texas.
He enlisted in the United States Army and served for six years in Germany. Upon returning to Texas, he married Johnnie Tryone and planned on moving to Iowa. Their car broke down in Fruita, Colorado and they then lived the next 44 years in Grand Junction, Colorado where they raised a family and farmed. In 2006, Charlie and Johnnie moved to Olathe, Colorado where he continued his dream of ranching.
His many accomplishments included working in Alaska and Wyoming in the oilfield, becoming an iron worker and to that end he helped to erect Blue Mesa Dam, the curtain in Rifle Gap, banks and malls on the Western slope, and even worked at Climax, Colorado, extending a shaft at the molybdenum mine. Charlie was well thought of and people remembered his smile. He will be greatly missed.
Charlie is survived by his ex-wife, Johnnie, his five children, Darlene, Charlie D., Velina A., Joseph T., and Terrance L.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Charlie’s request was to have a private service and to be place with his father, in Snook, Texas. Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose is assisting the family.
