Charles Eugene Van Over passed away September 30th  surrounded by family.  Chuck was born in a railroad sidecar on December 2, 1928, in Glenwood Springs, Colorado to Nellie Raney Van Over and John Van Over.  He spent his youth in Glenwood Springs and graduated from Garfield County High School with the class of 1946.  After graduating, he worked for J. V. Rose Motor Company.  He married Winifred Parry on August 5, 1950.  He was drafted into the Army in July, 1951 and served in Korea with the 13th Combat Engineers, 7th Infantry Division.  He was honorably discharged in June, 1953.

He and his wife had 2 children, Charles, Jr. and Cherlyn.  He served as Commander of VFW Post 3921 in Glenwood Springs and Master of the Masonic Lodge #68, also in Glenwood Springs.  He worked for 48 years for GM dealers in Glenwood Springs, retiring from Berthoud Motors in 1993.  After retirement, Chuck and Winnie moved to Montrose, Colorado.  Chuck loved dancing with Winnie, and also enjoyed golf, fishing, camping, traveling and sporting events, especially playing and watching football.  He was a member of St. Stephens Reformed Episcopal Church in Montrose and made many close friends in the church during his time there.  He enjoyed time spent with his family and enjoyed life, especially retired life.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Winnie; his parents; brothers, Fred and John; and sister, Della.  He is survived by his sister, Doris; his children, Charles, Jr. and wife, Lynn; Cherlyn and husband, David; and grandsons Justin, Joel and wife Megan and great granddaughter Adelyn.

Service time will be at 10:00 a.m. October 10, 2014 at St. Stephens Reformed Episcopal Church in Montrose.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, PO Box 1804, Montrose, CO 81402.  Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado.  LET US DANCE
