Catherine “Katie” M. Brown

Catherine “Katie” M. Brown, age 86, Lifetime Montrose Colorado resident, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Colorow Care Center in Olathe.  Katie was born November 20, 1929 to Dominic and Evelyn (DeJulio) Williams in Montrose.  Katie married Arthur J. Brown on November 7, 1948 in Montrose, and he preceded her in death. Following  high school, Katie worked as a secretary for the Lathrop Hardware Store and the Co-op for many years.

Katie was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.  She touched the hearts of many who knew her.  Katie was a kind and loving person, and her passing has saddened the hearts of all who knew her.  To know her was to love her.  Katie enjoyed playing bingo, and playing cards, and her accordion.    She enjoyed gardening and canning and spending time in her yard.  Bowling and sewing were also favorite past times.  She loved cooking and  family gatherings, and was especially known for her  4th of July parties.

Surviving family members include her son, Troy (Alberta) Brown of Montrose; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.  Katie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur, her daughter Dree Elizabeth , and two brothers.

The family would like to thank the staff at Colorow Care Center and Hospice for their love and the wonderful care they gave to Katie (Katie Bug). A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the Funeral Service at 2:00 pm at St. Mary Catholic Church in Montrose.  Interment will follow the service at Valley Lawn Cemetery, south of Montrose. Memorial contributions may be made to HopeWest Hospice, 725 S. 4th Street, Montrose, Co. 81401.  Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, in Montrose is assisting the family.
