Bruce Greensmith

Bruce was born February 28, 1937 in Battle Creek, Michigan to parents Sidney and Mildred Greensmith,  he had one older sister, Sally Ann North,  all of who have preceded him in death.

He grew up in Battle Creek and graduated from BC High School in June 1955. He lettered as a member of the golf team three years and was a 50-yard Freestyle swimmer and won the Michigan State 5-A Championship in 1955.

He enlisted in the US Air Force in February of 1956 and he attended an aircraft mechanical technical school and was assigned to the 8^th Bombardment Squadron at Johnson Air Base (JAB) Japan in November 1956. He spent two years in Japan, Korea, and Okinawa as a B-57 Bomber Crew Chief then returned to Sheppard AFB in Texas to attend instructors’ school and taught in the aircraft maintenance schools. He was a member of the JAB swim team as the top 100-meter freestyler, winning a Far East Championship in 1958.

He was discharged on August 3, 1959 to enter college that fall. He began at Kellogg Community College for one semester then transferred to Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He majored in Marketing, minored in Economics, and graduated in July 1964 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and served as pledge class president.

He met Cynthia Noack while at KCC, dated for 3 years and married, August 3, 1962.

Family members include; daughter, Christy (Richard) Boehm of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; son, William Greensmith of Johnstown, Colorado; daughter, Amy (Jim) Trujillo of Montrose, Colorado; grandsons, Justin and Joshua Boehm, and Matthew Nunez of Grand Junction, Colorado; and great-granddaughter Elisheva Nunez.

He began a sales career in September 1964, with Packaging Corp. Of America facilities in Arlington (Dallas), Texas. He was recruited by the Bell & Howell Business Equipment Group in 1967 in the Dallas area and promoted to District Manager in 1968. He received many awards for top sales performance. He was promoted to Systems Group Sales where he opened 3 lucrative new market areas.

He transferred to Bell & Howell Dealer Division and relocated to Wisconsin. He served as a Staff Marketing Manager, Major Accounts Manager, New Product Development Manager, and Regional Sales Manager.

He was recruited by DataFilm Corporation in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as Division Director and Equipment Sales Manager. He was named Top 10 dealer for sales of Minolta products 3 times and he enjoyed the reward trips to Jamaica, St. Maartens, Spain, and various sales meetings within the U.S.

He came to Montrose in 1995 and served in sales for Galiso, Inc. automated test systems. He was promoted to Sales Manager in 1999 for the Hydrostatic Systems product line, plus HGS product line serving the Semi-Conductor industry with a patented system to decontaminate the etching chambers of dust and debris generated while manufacturing computer chips in mass volume.

In October 2003, he retired to relax, travel, and play golf at each of the 3 golf courses here in Montrose and he enjoyed a membership at The Links of Cobble Creek golf club with his many close friends.

He spent 10 years as a part-time golf shop associate at The Bridges Golf and Country Club through the 2014 season.

He was a member of the All-Saints Anglican Church and has served on various committees for the church and community.
