Brian Torp

April 28, 1960 — February 4, 2015

Brian “Bri Guy” Torp passed away February 4, 2015 at San Juan Living Center in Montrose, CO.

Brian was born April 28, 1960, and is the oldest son of Richard and Ina Faye Torp.  Brian is well-known for his appreciation of travel, music, craft beers and festivals. He worked for over 20 years as a slope side photographer at Winter Park and then at Elevation Imaging in Telluride in the Winter, and as a raft photographer in the Summer.  After graduating from college, Brian joined the United States Army, where was trained as a Combat Photographer – skills he later turned into a lifetime love of photography.

Brian has captured weddings, sports events, hot air balloon races, and many, many road trips over the years. He was one of those few people who chose to earn a living doing what he loved, surrounded my friends he enjoyed.

Brian is survived by his parents Richard and Ina Faye Torp; his brother Rodney Torp; his sister Cynthia Torp; and numerous friends in the Telluride community. Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home.

For over thirty years Brian ended his phone calls with a word he picked up while traveling in Europe. If you’d like to say ‘Ciao!’ to Brian with friends and family, there will be a private memorial service at 2:30 pm this Saturday at the top of the gondola at station St. Sophia. After the brief service, skiers will be invited to do a final run down the slope with a celebration of his life at Smugglers beginning at 3:00 pm.

Everyone who knew Brian is welcome.   Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado
