Bonnie Ruth Brockelman Dickerson of Olathe, Colorado passed away peacefully Monday March 12, at the age of 93. She was born to John and Hazel (Platz) Carr in Council Grove, Kansas. Bonnie spent her early years in the Council Grove area and graduated from Council Grove High School in 1943. On March 1, 1944, Bonnie married Raymond Brockelman, also from Council Grove. They spent their early married years in Kansas and later relocated to Olathe, Colorado.
After the passing of her husband, Raymond in 1986, Bonnie married Durward Dickerson of Olathe, Colorado on July 23, 1993. Durward passed away in 2003.
Bonnie was a homemaker her entire life and raised seven children. In her later years she volunteered at the Olathe Elementary School, Colorow Care Center, and the Olathe Senior Center. She was also an active life-long church member. Her favorite things were Kansas Sunflowers, the color lavender, embroidering, and the company of her beloved dachshund dogs. Her passion in life was taking care of others and it showed in her everyday life.
Bonnie is survived by her loving family which includes her daughters, Bonnie Duke of Junction City, Kansas, Sheila Whitener of Grand Junction, CO., Jacquie (Dwight) Kelln of Montrose, CO., Kimberly Brockelman of Olathe, CO., and her son Rodney (Roxie) Brockelman of Strasburg, CO. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is survived by one sister, Mary Aldrich of Tina, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond and Durward as well as two sons, John Brockelman and James Brockelman both of Olathe, Colorado and one son-in-law Joe Duke of Junction City, Kansas, her parents John and Hazel Carr and her little brother Johnny.
A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Olathe Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory in Montrose. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bonnie’s memory to the charity of your choice.
