Bobbie Wanetta Trimmer Houser

March 11, 1944 ~ June 12, 2014

Bobbie Wanetta Trimmer was born on March 11,  1944 to Melvin (Ted) and Mabel Trimmer on an Indian reservation in Homestead, Oklahoma.  The family moved to Delta County where she and most of her brothers and sisters grew up.  In 1965 Bobbie met John in Telluride, CO  where they fell in love and were married on January 2, 1966.  In February of that same year John was shipped off to Germany to serve in the Air Force and Bobbie soon followed.  They lived in Landstuel, Germany near the Airforce Base and in May of 1967 their first child, Tricia, was born.  Four months after Tricia was born she, Bobbie and all their stuff flew from Germany to Cheyenne, Wyoming.  When John returned to the states they moved to Telluride with Barbara and Darrell Snow in hopes of trying to figure out new life with a new family.  They then moved to Norwood and bought the house that they have lived in ever since.  Mark came along not long after moving to Norwood and so started their adventure.  For many years Bobbie worked and did her part but the job she enjoyed best was spoiling her kids, grandkids and all the other kids in the neighborhood.  Something that she enjoyed doing and took very seriously was her time on the Norwood Ambulance and Fire Department.  In the 80’s and 90’s anytime there, was an ambulance call you could almost bet that Bobbie was sitting in the driver’s seat (impatiently) waiting for the rest of the crew.  There was even one fire that Bobbie was the only Fire Department member and  put it out all by herself.  When it was time for her to retire she didn’t want to go….. She felt the call and was her normal stubborn self and had to almost be kicked off before she finally retired.  22 years is a pretty good run!!!

Bobbies health had been failing for many years.  The past 2-3 years has mostly been spent in Montrose at Mark’s house.  Mark and Darren have gotten to spend missed time with her this way and she treasured them greatly.  Although she didn’t get a chance to say it much she greatly appreciated all the prayers, cards and thoughts sent her way.  She was a very strong willed, hard headed, and loving woman who will be greatly missed.  A Memorial Service in celebration of Bobbie’s life was held on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Redvale Church, in Redvale, Co.  The Norwood Fire and Ambulance will lead the procession to the Norwood Cemetery for interment.  Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co.
