Mrs. Betty Lou Felix
August 24, 1932 – October 18, 2017
Betty Felix lost her battle with Alzheimer’s disease Thursday, October 18th at Hope West Hospice in Grand Junction.
Betty was born in Ancho, New Mexico and often shared her warm memories of growing up on Bosque Farms in New Mexico where she played basketball and graduated from Las Lunas High School.
After moving to Olathe and marrying Jack, Betty worked many jobs including sorting onions at the Co-op, secretary at Olathe Elementary/Junior High School and the school district offices and selling Avon. Her favorite occupation was being a wonderful mother and home maker for her family. She and Jack moved to Spring Creek Mesa in Montrose in 1976 where they lived their dream of planting and raising a huge garden every year, hunting with Jack on Owl Creek Pass in Ridgway and having her family around her for the holidays and traveling to Alaska and Mexico.
Betty and Jack loved playing Pinochle with the Pinochle Club in Olathe and Betty especially delighted in the “women only pinochle nights with her best friends.
She was an avid Denver Bronco’s fan and when the games were during church, she had a difficult time deciding between watching her favorite team or attending church services.
Betty is survived by her husband of 64 years Mr. Jack Felix and her two sisters, Jon Head and Bob Henson.
Betty and Jack had 3 children,
Dusty and his wife, Barbra and their two children, Marisa and Dustin.
Jonni and her husband Marshal Bishop and their son Stephen.
Cindy and her husband Rick Rienks, daughters Jessica Kirkpatrick, Keli Kirkpatrick-Jerez, step sons Kevin Rienks and Matt Rienks and a soon to be great-grand son, Ellis Kirkpatrick-Jerez
A memorial Service for Betty will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday October 28th, 2017 at United Methodist Church in Olathe Colorado.
