Betty L Bishop (Semler)

Betty L Bishop, age 89, of Cimarron, Ks. went to be with the LORD on August 20, 2015. Betty was born in Hesperus, Co. August 9, 1926. She was the daughter of Gustare J. Semler and Martha (Miller) Semler. The family moved from Hesperus to Durango, Co. and then to the Oxford and Ignacio areas. Betty attended the Oxford, Mayflower, and Ignacio high schools from where she graduated. She married Franklyn L. Bishop in 1945. To the union, one son and four daughters where born. She was preceded in death by her husband Franklyn L. Bishop and son Carl L. Bishop and her parents and four brothers. She is survived by her four daughters: Patricia (Frank) Bullard, of Little River, South Carolina, Frances (Phil) Pascoe, of Indianapolis, Indiana, Katherine (Mark) Pingsterhaus, of Cimarron, Kansas, Phyllis (Todd) Johnson, of Ellicott, Colorado,  eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Also surviving are three sister in-laws Marie Semler, Linda Stevenson, and Marge Allesandri

While living in Olathe, she was a member of Faith Baptist church in Montrose. She joined Bible Baptist Church in Dodge City in 2013. While living in Olathe, Co. she saw her four daughters graduate from high school and go on with their lives. She worked fourteen years at the White Kitchen in Olathe as a cashier from 1993 – 2007. Betty retired from the White Kitchen at the age of 80 when her health forced her to retire.

Throughout Betty’s life, she enjoyed gardening, making jewelry, crocheting, fishing, hunting, sewing, and spending time with her family. After retiring, Betty moved to Cimarron to live with her daughter and her family where she stayed until her death.

Funeral services will be held at Crippin Funeral Home on Friday, August 28, at 10:00 a.m. followed by graveside services at the Olathe Cemetery. Viewing will be available Friday from 9:00 am to 9:30 am before services. Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co. is assisting the family
