Berta Earline Schell

March 17, 1929 ~ September 13, 2016

Berta Earline Schell peacefully finished her life on this earth and entered into the presence of her Heavenly Father on September 13, 2016. Earline was born on March 17, 1929, Berta Earline Ragan, in Perryton, Texas where she grew up. She married her high school sweetheart, best friend, and love of her life, Bob Schell on July 31, 1948. They moved to Montrose in 1961. Shortly after that they moved into and spent 53 years in the same house on Spring Creek Mesa.

Earline’s satisfaction and joy in life was not in her education, accomplishments, material possessions, but in her family and the love of her Lord. She served Him all her life, in many ways; working with the youth group, Bible Bowl, Bible Studies, teaching, devotionals and dramatic interpretations of women in the Bible. Earline was seriously ill with cancer in 1954, and prayed that God would let her live long enough to raise her children. He answered her prayer, and she watched her son Michael and daughter Sharla grow up to the love the Lord and follow Him. She was also very involved in the life of her grandchildren, and then her great grandchildren, and even great great grandchildren. She loved all her family, and her fervent prayer was always that they would all choose to follow Christ.  They were her delight. Earline also enjoyed working in her beautiful yard, camping in the mountains and travel. Later in life, she loved making cards and doing scrapbook/photo albums. Bob preceded her in death in 2013. She is survived by her son Mike ( Lynda) Schell of Lake City, Colorado; her daughter Sharla (Glenn) Downing of Montrose, Colorado; her grandchildren Tannah (Bryan) Snow, Tony (Jamie) Schell, Lelie Ruiz; her great grandchildren Crystal Schmidt, Samantha (Ty) Brown, Meghan Schell, AJ  & Izzie Ruiz, Taylor & Brady Snow; and her great great grandchildren Talon and Gavin Brown. Earline was a blessing and an inspiration to her family, her friends and the many people whose lives she touched. We will miss Earline very much, but will join her again someday.
