On January 30th, 2025, Benjamin George Rencoret peacefully passed away at his home, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. Ben had a heart as big as his smile, and his genuine kindness made him a friend to everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Ben was born in Punta Arenas, Chile, but moved to Houston, Texas, when he was just two years old. His natural curiosity and talent for computers led him to a fulfilling 38-year career with IBM. His journey eventually took him to Colorado, where he traded his love for the ocean and surfing for the beauty of the mountains, fishing, and trail running. It was here in Colorado that he raised his daughters, pushed himself to the limit in 100-mile races, and built a life full of love and adventure.
Ben’s spirit shone brightly during his 25 years in Montrose, Colorado, where he not only found peace in nature but also forged a deep connection with his faith. He dedicated his life to serving God, always with an open heart and a generous spirit. Through his faith he met Gina, the love of his life, who he cherished fiercely. Though heartbroken by her passing in 2018, Ben’s devotion to her never wavered.
In his retirement, Ben embraced the joy of being surrounded by his grandchildren. He loved fishing trips, sunny naps on the porch, and the simple pleasures of time spent with family. His laughter, presence, and easy energy were a gift to those around him, and he leaves behind a legacy of warmth, love, and kindness.
Ben is predeceased by his parents, Benjamin Rencoret and Sybil Fay Lindsey; his sister, Sybil Leverett; and his beloved wife, Gina Cunningham Rencoret. He is survived by his three daughters, Lindsay Rencoret (Ralph Lozano), Lauren Rencoret (Bryan Voegtli), and Anna Combs (Jeremiah Combs); his sisters, Michelle Rencoret, Nathalie Rencoret, and Matilde Rencoret; and his cherished grandchildren, Benjamin Rencoret, Mason Crisman, Mae Voegtli, Delilah Combs, Leo Rencoret, Miles Voegtli, and Baby Boy Voegtli due in May 2025.
Ben’s heart was a home for anyone who needed it, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. He was a true blessing to this world.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, February 15th at 10:00 a.m. at Montrose Christian Church, located at 2351 Sunnyside Rd., Montrose, CO 81401.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ben’s honor to Compassion International, a cause close to his heart. Contributions will help support children in need around the world. Ways to Donate to Children in Need | Compassion International
