Beatrice (GB) Holman

August 25, 1918 ~ May 2, 2016

Beatrice Holman, age 97, peacefully went to be with our Heavenly Father and family on May 2, 2016; surrounded by her children and loved ones, at her daughter Marjorie’s home in Montrose.

Beatrice was born August 25, 1918 in Moroni, Utah to Abraham Hutchison and Myrtle Story Hutchinson. She was the youngest of four children and dearly loved her siblings. On February 15, 1935 she married the love of her life, Emery Holman, and they were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on April 7, 1953. To their union 7 children were born.

In the 1940’s, after running sheep in Fountain Green, Utah for several years, Emery and Beatrice, along with 5 of Emery’s brothers, moved to Montrose to continue the family sheep business. Beatrice, along with her sister Vera, spent all their waking hours cooking for family and crews, herding children (and sheep), but most of all taking in the joy and fun of a ranching family.

Beatrice was a master homemaker and shared all her knowledge with everyone she came in contact with. There is not a kinder person than Beatrice. She was a peacemaker and loved everyone she met. She enjoyed anytime spent with family and loved to travel, or just take an afternoon ride to see the beautiful area she lived in.

Beatrice is survived by one son, Dee (Terri) Holman of Montrose, CO; five daughters, Carla Rowan of Montrose, CO, Tammy Kavanaugh of Godley, TX, Shauna (Kyle) Jerome of Brush, CO, Marjorie (Bill) Reed of Montrose, CO, Shirleen (Clinton) Booth of Salt Lake City, UT, and a daughter-in-law Barbara Holman of Montrose, CO. She leaves a legacy of 30 grandchildren, 94 great grandchildren, and 43 great-great grandchildren.

Beatrice is preceded in death by her loving husband Emery, her oldest son Gerald (Jerry) Emery Holman, granddaughters Kim Kavanaugh-Kimbel, Tracy Booth, grandson Lance Booth, and sons-in-law, Rick Rowan and Pat Kavanaugh.

A Funeral Service to honor Beatrice will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1521 Hillcrest on Saturday, May 7, 2016. The viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the service to follow at 10:00 a.m. A Graveside dedication will take place following the service at Valley Lawn Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Barbara Davis Center for Children’s Diabetes, 1775 Aurora Ct, Aurora, Colorado 80045.
