Arthur A. “Art” Rice

Arthur “Art” Rice, age 88, passed away on January 5, 2018 at his residence in Norwood, Colorado.
Art was born in Norwood where he spent his childhood and graduated high school. Art joined the US Army in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1953. Art returned to the west end where he worked as a core driller and iron ore hauler for Union Carbide. Art married Carole Adams in 1953 in Grand Junction, and in 1960, he and Carole moved to Montrose, where he started, owned and operated Art’s Mobile Homes. In 1997, Art and Carole decided to retire and sell their business, They eventually settled back to his hometown, Norwood, Colorado. Art was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge, and he had a passion for flying airplanes.
Art is survived by his wife; Carole, of Norwood, a son; Walt, of Montrose, 3 grandchildren; Brad Rice, Kimberly Parrott, and Becky Sullivan, and 7 great grandchildren. Art and his family suffered great loss of his daughter, Debra Schneider, and his granddaughter, Buffy Rice Donahue. A Memorial Service will be held for Art at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel in Montrose and Military Honors will follow at Cedar Cemetery.
