Ardis J Reed

Ardis Jean Reed, age 83, passed away February 19, 2013 at Valley Manor Care Center in Montrose.  Ardis was born April 27, 1931 to John Edwin and Geneva Violet (Rotramel) Swann at Pueblo, Colorado.  She spent her childhood and received her education in Nucla, Co.  Ardis met and married Elvin Russell Reed on July 1, 1950 in Delta, Co., and he preceded her in death on November 5, 1990 in Olathe, Co.  She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.  Together Elvin and Ardis enjoyed the scenery of many states they traveled through Colorado, Arizona, Oregon, Utah and Arkansas.  Ardis enjoyed watching sports, crossword puzzles and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they were her true passions.

Surviving family members include her sons, Elvin Isaac (Kathy E.)Reed of Norwood, Colorado, Myron Lee (Cathy A.) Reed of Elko, Nevada, Edwin Hammit Reed of Montrose, Samual Dean Reed of Fruita, Colorado; daughters Janet Elizabeth (Jose ‘Lupe’)Bravo of Montrose, Colorado, Geneva Kay (Dave W.) Ketcham of Montrose, Colorado, Ardis Breanne (Darell) Schmidt of Elko, Nevada, Karen Kimberly (Andrew A.) Kennell of Montrose, Colorado; one brother, William Dale Steward of Nucla, Colorado; one sister Karen LeeAnn (Pat) Miles of Lebanon, Oregon; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchldren.  Ardis was preceded in death by her brothers, Rocky Swann, LeRoy Stewart, and David Stewart, a son Terry Lynn Reed and a great grandson Christian Tyler Reed.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Ronald McDonald House, in memory of Ardis Reed, 1000 E. 16th Avenue, Denver, Colorado  80218.  A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel.  A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 at the chapel.  Interment will follow the service at the Olathe Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado.
