Ann (Arabia) Capone

Ann Capone, 96, died peacefully February 19, 2018 at her home of 66 years under the care of HopeWest Hospice and her family.
Ann was born April 20, 1921 at Camp 50, Kansas to Frank and Catherine (Wadino) Arabia.
She was raised at Camp 50 and attended Camp 50 schools. In 1937, she moved to Chicago, Illinois to seek employment and be near her brother, sisters, and cousins. She worked at a rubber factory manufacturing basketballs and footballs. Ann worked hard and enjoyed the Chicago nightlife with family and friends at a local neighborhood club. She loved to dance and was quite accomplished at dancing the Charleston. There she met Chuck Capone. They were married on June 12, 1941 in Chicago. They had two daughters and continued to reside in Chicago until moving to Montrose in 1948.
Ann was a homemaker. As special interests, she especially enjoyed cut work embroidery and reading.
She is survived by her daughters, Dona Capone and Cathy Hermanns of Montrose; her grandchildren: Monty (Blythe) English of Montrose, Aaron (Michelle) English of Gillette, Wyoming, Charmain English of Montrose, Monica Heckethorn of Vernal, Utah and Linda Hermanns (Larry Brach) of Mack, Colorado. Great grandchildren: Zakary English, Cheyenne English, Chelle English, Misteen English, Chance (Hailey) Heckethorn, and Heidi Heckethorn. Four great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one sister Angie Carpino of Arma, Kansas and one sister-in-law Gwen Serra of Montrose, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 62 years, two brothers, two sisters, a nephew, a son-in-law, and a grandson.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11:00 am at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ouray, Colorado. If unable to attend the graveside service, please join the family for a reception following the service at the Ute Indian Museum from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
The family wishes to thank HopeWest Hospice for their excellent care of Ann. Their staff is truly dedicated to helping others and acknowledging the value and purpose of their patients lives by treating them with compassionate care and respect.
