Alpheus (Al) F. Pederson, 84, of Montrose, CO passed away January 22, 2015 due to a ruptured aneurysm.  He was at Swedish Medical Center in Denver for disc surgery and this complication was discovered during testing prior to surgery.

Al was born in Leadville, CO to Elling and Ada Pederson.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Douglas, Lewis and Kenneth.   He is survived by his sister, Charlotte Cummings, his wife of 36 years Sharon, his three children, Cindy & John Berryman, Karen Pederson and Eric & Sharon Pederson.  He is also survived by two granddaughters, Christina & Keith Roth and Pamela & Kevin Koester and five great-grandchildren Emalee, Ethan, Kyle, Hunter and Jayce.

After graduating high school Al joined the navy where he served for 4 years.  Al graduated from Colorado University in Boulder with an electrical engineering degree.  He spent the next 12 years working for technology companies including Sperry, Beckman and TRW but tired of the travel and time away from his family.  In 1973 Al moved the family back home to Colorado.  He purchased the Spot Cafe in Montrose and operated that while also getting his electricians license and working for contractors locally.  This work eventually led to Al and Sharon starting Pederson Electric on April 1, 1979. In recent years Al enjoyed more free time for golf, travel and visiting friends and family.

Al’s passion was golf.  He loved to play golf, to watch golf, and to study golf.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the Junior Golf-1st Tee Program,c/o Montrose Bank.

Memorial services will take place Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 11am at Zion Lutheran Church 701 S Junction Avenue.  Please join the family for a celebration of Al’s life immediately following at Ted’s Steakhouse.   Private burial will be at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Grand Junction.  Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado.
