Alma Jean Hintz (Flaiz)

December 11, 1939 — October 2, 2017

Alma Jean (Flaiz) Hintz went to be with the Lord and Savior on Oct. 2, 2017.
She lost her battle with stomach cancer at the Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Alma was born Dec. 11, 1939, in Delta, Colorado, to Rollie and Nancy (Harris) Flaiz. There were four children in the family: Bill, Alma, Thelma and Patsy. The family had a farm and ranch and the children grew up helping their mom and dad.
Alma and Thelma were identical twins and they were known as the Flaiz twins. They were so identical you could not tell them apart and they had so much fun teasing people when they were younger.
On July 22, 1969, Alma married the love of her life, Ronald E. Hintz, from Elgin, North Dakota. They were blessed to share 48 wonderful years of marriage.
Ron and Alma, with their daughter LeaAnn and husband Robert, owned Little Loggers. Alma loved being in the mountains while they were logging and looked forward to spending summers in the mountains. She loved to ride her horse in the mountains with LeaAnn and her granddaughter’s Heather and Angel when they were young. She had such a keen sense of knowing horses and she could look at a horse and just know if it would turn out to be a good horse or not.
Alma owned and opened the first Mode-O-Day store in Delta, Colorado in the late 1970s. In later years, she worked at Colorow Care for 16 years until retirement.
Ron and Alma loved to take long drives. They loved touring the mountains and the countryside. There’s not a mountain road in this area they have not traveled. They spent many weekends seeing the country.
She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart. She had so much fun watching them play sports. She never missed a rodeo or a gymkhana, she was always there at the county fairs to watch them show their 4-H animals. She got to see her great-granddaughters Kaitlyn and Aylin become Delta County Rodeo princess and Jr. princess. She never missed one of Alyssa’s games and always cheered her on. She loved to watch Rowdy Sharpe, her only great-grandson, ride his dirt bike and compete in motor cross races. She got so excited when her great grandchildren competed and was there to cheer them on no matter what they were doing.
She had a wonderful time this summer when LeaAnn and Patsy took her and Ron to Fortuna, California, to see her brother, Bill, for a family reunion. They had a nice visit and even got to get in a little sightseeing. A trip she was so glad she could make.
Alma is survived by her husband, Ron; daughter, LeaAnn Dickerson and husband Robert; brother, Bill Flaiz from Fortuna, California; and sister, Patsy Lange from Urda, Utah; granddaughters Heather Bayles and husband George and great granddaughters Alyssa and Aylin, Angle Sharpe and husband, Jack; and great-grandchildren Kaitlyn and Rowdy. She is survived by many nieces and a host of many good friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rollie and Nancy (Harris) Flaiz; twin sister, Thelma Pettis; brother-in-law, Eldon Pettis; and nephew Byron Pettis.
Alma was a kind and beautiful lady. She always had a smile and will be so missed by her family and friends.
Services for Alma will be held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 14, 2017, at Bible Baptist Church in Olathe. She will be laid to rest at the Olathe Cemetery.
