Albert Unrein – December 24, 1919 – July 21, 2015

 

Albert Unrein passed away peacefully at home with his granddaughter at the age of 95.

Albert was the youngest of 11 children.  At a young age he took on the responsibility of supporting his mother, and teaching himself to read and write.  He had a gifted talent of being able to pick up any instrument and play it by ear.  He played frequently for family and friends and was hired to play music for a local dance hall. He also had the opportunity to sing on the local radio.  His career took him from working on the Narrow Guage Railroad, to being commissioned as a top carpenter in the area.  He farmed his land and raised a beautiful family, as family was his top priority. He had a passion for teaching his sons, nephews and cousins how to hunt and fish.  He loved the outdoors and being active with his sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Albert married Virginia Munfrada at the age of 21, they shared 73 years of marriage together and made many family memories.

He is predeceased by his wife, Virginia Unrein; his two sons, Larry Unrein and Lester Unrein; grandsons, Bowman Unrein and Steven Unrein; and his granddaughter, Eve Unrein.

Albert is survived by his three sons; Daniel (Sassa) Unrein, George (Charlene) Unrein, and David (Shiela) Unrein.

Albert was a proud grandfather to Daniel (Todd) Unrein, John Akin, Chaundra (Mike) Hershey, Kelly Unrein, Nancy (Ted)Tolson, Trena Unrein, Nicholas Unrein, James (Michelle) Unrein, Christie Unrein, Alexandra (Shane) Davis, Brian Unrein, Larry Unrein, and Lacey Unrein.

He was also the proud great grandfather to Ashley, Katie, Taylor, and Bo (David’s grandchildren), Serena, Elizabeth (Scarlett), and Amanda (George’s grandchildren), Mariah, Haven, Danny, Tanya (Chase), Sarah, Randi, Nicholas, Cannon, Eve, Hayley, Emily, Jimmie, Gunnar, Bergen, and Haakon (Daniel’s grandchildren).

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, July 26th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel.  A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Grand View Cemetery, west of Montrose.  Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado is assisting the family.
