Albert P. Martinez, age 88, of Olathe, Colorado, died peacefully at home with his wife and family present on March 13, 2016.  Albert was born June 27, 1927 to Patrick and Helen ( Chacon) Martinez at Villa Grove, Colorado.  There he spent his childhood and received his education.  At the age of 18, Albert served his country in the United States Marine Corp.

Albert married Virginia Maestas on April 21, 1952, celebrating 63 years of marriage.  He worked for many years as a truck Driver prior to his retirement.  Albert was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses in Delta, Colorado.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.  His family was his pride and joy.  Albert loved the outdoors, which included farming for years, fishing, hunting and camping with family and friends.  His wife, Virginia and his children will miss him greatly.

Surviving family members include his wife, Virginia M. Martinez of the family home in Olathe; sons Richard Lee Martinez, and Dwayne (Susan) Martinez of Olathe; daughters, Diana (Sam) Miller of Montrose, Alberta (Dave) Howard of Yuma, Arizona, Julie (Roy) Casias of Yuma, Arizona, Linda (Ron) Granzella of Goodyear, Arizona, Geraldine (Ken) Wrich of Delta, Colorado; brothers Leonard, Pete, and Ernie; sisters Belice, Beth and Vicki; 28 Grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.  Albert was preceded in death by his parents, eight siblings and one baby daughter and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to HopeWest Hospice, 725 S. 4th Street, Montrose, Co. 81401.  A Memorial Service in celebration of Albert’s life will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, 306 Mesa St., Delta, Colorado.  Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, in Montrose is assisting the family.
