Virginia Carol (Henderson) Scheele, age 79, was born to M.R. and Minnie Henderson in Miltonvale, Kansas. She grew up in Hollis and Miltonvale, Kansas, attending Wesleyan High School in Miltonvale. After High School she became a telephone switchboard operator for Bell Systems in Clay Center, Kansas. Virginia married Del Scheele, of Clay Center on October, 11, 1957 who was with the J.C. Penny Co. A daughter, Coleen, was born in Clay Center and the family was transferred to Atlantic, Iowa in 1959. Sons, Jeff and Mike were born in Atlantic. The family was transferred to Hays, Kansas in 1962. The family was then transferred to Yuma, Colorado in 1965 where a daughter, Karen was born. In 1968, the family moved to Delta, Colorado. Another transfer was made to Leadville, Colorado in 1973 and from there to Craig, Colorado in 1975.

Virginia and Del purchased a business in Delta in 1981 and returned to Delta residing there since that time. Virginia participated in managing that business until it was sold in 1984. Since the time she was engaged in school food service and Pizza Hut salad bar makeup. She truly enjoyed shopping yard sales, estate sales and being with her grandchildren. She went to many of those events in her 1965 Ford Falcon convertible, enjoying it to the fullest. She followed the NASCAR racing events closely and for many years. Virginia’s 20 year battle with R.A. came to a close with the great care she received in Willow Tree Care Center for the last 21 months. Her family and HopeWest Hospice care professionals were also in attendance for her comfort the last two weeks. The family wishes to thank Willow Tree Care Center for their kindness and comfort to Virginia.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and two younger brothers. Survivors include her husband, all of her children, two sisters from Kansas, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Services are planned for a later date. Interment will be at the Western Colorado Veterans Cemetery in a space reserved for Virginia and Del. Memorial Contributions are encouraged to HopeWest Hospice P.O. Box 24, Delta, CO 81416. Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory.
