Virginia L. Leonard, age 77, of Montrose, Colorado passed away October 14, 2016 at Montrose Memorial Hospital.  Virginia was born December 13, 1938 to Lloyd and Mary (Griner) Schnelle.  She married Frank L. Leonard on July 3, 1971 in Mariposa, California. Virginia was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church in Montrose and was an active member of Sharing Ministries for many years and was her church pianist and organist for several years also.

Surviving family members include her husband, Frank of the family home; son Wayne Leonard of Wylie, Texas; daughter Dannita White of Lakewood, Colorado; daughter-in-law Brenna Leonard; son-in-law Pete White; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers James Schnelle of St. Mary’s Ohio and John Schnelle of Chino, Ohio, one sister Ruth Pummell of Grafton, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Virginia’s name can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association.  A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rosemont Baptist Church on Niagara Road in Montrose.  Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory in Montrose is assisting the family.
