Thomas Vowell

Thomas E. ‘Tom’ Vowell of Montrose passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 23, 2013 at the Montrose Memorial Hospital at the age of 82.
Tom was born on March 24, 1930 in Boyle, Mississippi to Dee Witt & Sarah Elizabeth (Gregg) Vowell. Tom spent most of his childhood in Drew, Miss. where he attended school and graduated from high school. Tom attended Tulsa University and also the University of California Los Angeles.
Tom married Charlotte Ann Saraff in December 24, 1957, Tom and Charlotte made their home in Sedalia, Co., San Diego, Ca., and Tulsa, Ok., before settling in Montrose, where they have resided for many years. Tom was a General Contractor, and also worked in the aerospace field. He was also a Lt. Special Deputy with Douglas County, Co.

Tom enjoyed to riding his motorcycle, and taking four wheel trips. He enjoyed golf, and loved spending time with his horse, and all of his weimaraner dogs. When Tom wasn’t outside you could find him inside writing many a stories. Being around Tom was never a dull moment. Tom loved his family and enjoyed many friends.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Charlotte, as well as 1 son and 2 daughters, a granddaughter, Whitney, and 1 great grandchildren Gryphon Charlotte. Tom is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, and 2 sisters.

At Tom’s request cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Crippin Funeral Home, 802 E. Main St., Montrose, Co 81401.
