Thomas Paul Oliver

d. March 16, 2018

Thomas Paul Oliver, 69, of Montrose, CO passed away suddenly of a heart attack on Friday, March 16, 2018.
Tom was born on August 14, 1948 to Edward J. and Beatrice Mundy Oliver in Somerville, NJ. He grew up in Bridgewater, NJ and graduated from Bridgewater-Raritan High School West in 1967.
He served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1973.
Tom married Patricia Luster of Flemington, NJ on May 26, 1972 and they raised their family in Ringoes, NJ. He was a true craftsman who owned and operated Oliver Home Improvements for 20 years.
Tom was a cowboy at heart. He loved horses and the Wild West. In 1998, he and Pat relocated to Montrose. He was an ASHI certified inspector and the owner of Oliver Home and Building Inspections. He spent his free time exploring the surrounding mountains and mesas on his horse Ginger, hunting, and recently discovered a love of ice fishing.
Tom was a great Christian, always ready to tell others of his love for the Lord. He was a kind, faithful husband. He was a strong, loving father. He was funny and outgoing, making new friends everywhere he went (and always coming home with a story about the “neat” person he had just met). He was a hard worker with a standard of excellence that made others trust and respect him.
He is survived by Pat, his loving wife of 45 years; his son Matthew of New York City; his daughter Jessica of Hollywood, CA; his brother Ed and his wife Denise of Las Cruces, NM; his sister Deborah Oliver Prusik and her husband Tom of Toms River, NJ; his aunt Jean Mundy Naismyth of New Hope, PA; his uncle Fred Mundy of Long Beach, CA; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at his church home, Montrose Christian Church 2351 Sunnyside Rd., Montrose on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at 11 AM. Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory in Montrose is assisting the family.
