Sidney (Sid) Warren Collins passed away on Saturday, March 21st, 2015. The son of Bert and Rose Collins, Sid was born in Montrose, Colorado on April 10th, 1938. Sid graduated from Montrose High School in 1956 where he enjoyed playing sports, playing the trumpet, and made many lifelong friends. He attended Western State College with a degree in accounting, along with serving in the Colorado National Guard. This is where he met Jo Ella (Boland) and they enjoyed 44 years of marriage. They made their home in Montrose where they raised four children.

Sid co-owned Collins Farms, a diverse agricultural operation in Western Colorado, with his brother and partner, Marshall L. Collins. Some of his fondest memories were spent on the farm working alongside his best friend and son, Brad. He was involved in the development of the Cobble Creek Golf Community. He served on the board of many organizations including The Montrose CO-OP, Wells Fargo, and The Colorado Potato Growers. Sid also founded the Happy Canyon Ranchers 4-H Club in 1969 and was an active participant in the community’s 4-H programs.

He was lucky enough to find love again with Maryland (Cox) and they were married on August 1st, 2007. He took great joy in bringing the two large families together. He was blessed to have such a loving family by his side every step of the way. His family meant the world to him and he enjoyed spending time with all of his family and friends. He loved to go fishing, camping, golfing, watching basketball and playing blackjack.

Surviving family members include his wife, Maryland Collins, of Montrose, CO; one son, Brad (Antoinette) Collins, of Greeley, CO, and daughters: Morgan, Shelby, and Molly; three daughters: Tracy (Kurt) Moydell, of Parker, CO, and children: Austen, Mikinzie, and Ahren; Derinda (Lyndon) Johnson, of Nampa, ID, and children: Riley, Nate, and Sidney Kate; Jody (Phil) Neary, of  Montrose, CO, and daughters Rhyan and Abbey; two step-sons: Rick (Angelic) Fender of Delta, CO and children: Adrienne (Michael) Weams, Courtney (Patrick) Hellman, Dewey Fender, Alyssa Fender ; Randy (Marlene) Fender of Montrose, CO and children: Kelly Fender, Kirk (Mandi) Fender, Angela (Richard) Flores; one step-daughter: Patty (Tom) Reed of Fruita, CO and children: Rylan (Danielle) Reed, Leslie (Matt) Bodenchuk, Casey Reed; and 19 great grandchildren. Also, his brother, Marshall (Cheri) Collins of Montrose, CO and his sister Dezma Page (Miles White) of Saint Johns, AZ. Special Friends – Joe McKinnon and Rodrigo Baltazar.

Sid was preceded in death by his parents and his previous wife, Jo Ella.  A public visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24th, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel followed by a memorial vigil starting at 7p.m.   A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, March 25th, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at the Grand View Cemetery. All are welcome to attend all services.
