Ryan L. Fox
January 13, 1952 ~ May; 29, 2018
Ryan Lee Fox was born January 13, 1952 in Des Moines, Iowa to Wes and Evelyn Fox. He was the 2nd oldest of 4 boys. The family made their home in Postville, Iowa where the boys were raised and helped Wes at the feed mill business. Ryan spent his boyhood days learning to hunt and playing in the woods while dreaming of being a cowboy.
Ryan and Sally met at the Postville School they attended. They were married August 15, 1971. In 1974 they put down roots in Montrose, Colorado and raised their daughters, Stephanie and Jennifer. Ryan has long been a pillar of the Montrose community and member of First Presbyterian Church. Owning businesses of water delivery, tree trimming, trash service, driver’s education and drug testing led to life-long friendships.
Ryan, a caring and kind mentor, left a lasting impression with everyone as the light of Christ shined thru him. While his passions were being a cowboy, ranching, working cattle and hunting in the San Juan Mountains; his greatest love was for his bride of 46 years, Sally and adventures with his daughters.
At the time of Ryan’s first flight for life journey and with the news of a cancer diagnosis, he asked Sally if she was ready for another adventure, to hang on and see what God had in store for them. The next two and a half years took them thru unforeseen ups and downs, making them stronger in their faith together.
Ryan’s legacy is a testament to Christ, and unwavering faith, commitment to his family, and making a positive difference in the lives of so many. Ryan is preceded in death by his parents Wes and Evelyn Fox, and his brother Lynn Fox.
Survivors include his wife Sally, his daughter Stephanie and husband Scott (Fargo, ND; his daughter Jennifer and husband Brad and their daughters Makayla and Daisy (Tuttle, OK); his brothers Kenneth Fox and Wallace Fox (Elwood, NE) a niece Kim Perlis and nephew Nick Fox (Aurora, CO) a nephew Steven Fox and niece Christina McDonald (Hasting, NE) and nine great nieces and nephews.
Memorial can be made in Ryan’s name to Colorado West Christian School and to First Presbyterian Church in Montrose. Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory in Montrose is assisting the family.
