Norman Wayne Johnston

March 10, 1955 ~ March 30, 2015

Norman (Norm) Wayne Johnston was born to an amazing couple, Archibald Stuart and Shirley Johnston on March 10, 1955. He learned the love of Jesus at an early age and lived life as a man of God. He married the love of his life, Bertha Brower on June 10, 1978. They grew more in love with each other every day and were blessed with 4 children.

Norman graduated from Montrose High School in 1973. He moved to Fort Collins to attended college at Colorado State University earning a degree in Agricultural Engineering. He returned to Montrose and became a licensed Professional Engineer. Norman was a predominant Geotechnical Engineer in the area. He was the proud owner of Johnston Geotechnical at the time of his passing.

Spending time with his family, fishing on the lakes, wood working, and playing his bass clarinet for the Woodwind Group and Joyful Sounds of All Saints were some of his favorite hobbies. At all times he was kind and generous. His heart was always compassionate to family, friends, and strangers. No one ever owed him for his kind deeds because he never expected anything in return.

Those who honor his memory include his loving wife Bertha Johnston; his children Jessica (Jeff) Shern of Colorado, Laurie (Steve) Grenoble of Montrose, Heather Johnston of Kent, WA, and Cameron Johnston of Montrose; his grandchildren Emily and Noah Shern, Samantha and Adalynn Grenoble, and Abel Walesby; Brothers Ken (Pam) Johnston, and Jack Johnston, and brother by choice Albert and Hazel Corman; and in-laws Lorraine Brower, and John Tidenberg. He was proceeded in death by his parents, and his brother Clifford.

Services will be held at All Saints Anglican Church, 2057 S Townsend Ave, Montrose, Co Monday April 6 at 11 am.  “Just out of reach.” We will miss and love you always, Norm… Daddy… Papa.  Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado is assisting the family.
