There will be a Visitation with Rosary on Wednesday, September 13th, at 6:00 p.m. at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be Thursday, September 14th, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Valley Lawn Cemetery with Military Honors.
Mike A. Gallegos, age 92, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Valley Manor Care Center after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Mike was born on November 19, 1924 in Center, CO to Cirilio and Elsie (Struck) Gallegos. On November 6, 1948, Mike married the love of his life Clara Martinez in Montrose, Colorado. Mike served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. Mike was very proud to have served his country to protect the people he loved most. Mike was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Montrose, CO. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and being in the Colorado mountains. Mike worked at Sanitary Plumbing and Heating for several years as a plumber. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and loved his family more than anything this world could offer.
Mike is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Clara Gallegos of Montrose, CO; his son David Gallegos of Montrose, CO; his daughter Carla (Jim) Gallegos-Fox of Montrose, CO; a brother Arnold Gallegos of Montrose, CO; two sisters Ester Gallegos of Denver, CO; Clorinda Castillo of Montrose, CO; two grandchildren, Cayla (Richard) Santa Cruz of Montrose, CO; Sean Byers of Grand Junction, CO; and three great-grandchildren, Antonio, Alaina, and Alivia Santa Cruz, all of Montrose, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents Cirilio & Elsie Gallegos, and three sisters, Freda Espinosa, Faye Fresquez, and Beatrice Leon.
