MARIAN LUJEAN KING

…in my eyes

God never made a more beautiful girl.

In my eyes

There’s no one more lovely in the world,

And she looks at me with such surprise

When she sees how special she is in my eyes…….

…..so goes the song by John Conlee that Jack King described as the perfect song for the love of his life.    Jack and Marian King enjoyed  42 years of marriage and friendship.    The couple were married in the home of Carl and Grace Pierson in Telluride, Colorado on June 7, 1952.   In addition to living in Telluride, they resided in Naturita and Montrose.   Marian will be remembered by friends as the woman who drove the jeep into the side of the Naturita Pharmacy and causing one of the biggest perfume sales in the town’s history because of the broken bottles.   Her sparkling dark eyes and delightful dry sense of humor are an unforgettable image the family will carry with them always.

Marian LuJean Holman was born in Fountain Green, Utah on April 16, 1932 to LeGrand and Norlene (Caldwell) Holman.   She worked at the Navy Base in Hawthorne, Nevada until moving to Colorado with her stepfather, Vern Bagby,  in 1951.

Survivors include three sons, John, Ric and Michael, all of Montrose, three grandchildren  Tony (and Tammy) King of Colorado Springs, Tadd (and Amy) King of Montrose and Stephanie (and Maurice) Archuleta of Montrose, four great-grandchildren: Harlie and Andrew Archuleta and Declan and Avery King.   She is also survived by a half-sister, Doris Carpenter of Montrose., a niece, Karen Borgogno-Niemeyer of Rifle and a nephew, Toby Carpenter of Denver.

Services will be held on Thursday, December 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel in Montrose with burial to follow at the Norwood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Johnson Elementary School Library.  Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory of Montrose, Co. is assisting the family.
